Hopefully, this time next year we'll have the reconstructed gin in place. For now this will have to do!

Brig. Gen. Francis M. Cockrell and his Missouri Brigade lost 60.2% of its strength attacking this portion of the Federal line. Of 82 officers, 19 were killed, 31 wounded, and 13 captured. Of 614 enlisted men, 79 were killed, 198 wounded, and 79 captured. Cockrell was wounded three times, in one arm and both legs, the bone of one leg being broken.

I'm intrigued that this was a city sponsored historical marker. Most states I've been to have State sponsored markers. Does Tennessee do it differently?

No sir. Our county historical society have added this and others to compliment pre existing state markers in the area.

I will definitely be reading up about this - the little known engagements of the Civil War are my favorites

Don't know if I'd include the Battle of Franklin in little engagements of the CW. At least in men killed, more so on the confederate side, due to Hood's plan of attack.
If interested in this battle I'd chose "five tragic hours" the Battle of Franklin by McDonough and Connelly
If you read it let me know what you think.
