So, evidently my corset has decided it no longer wants to work with me. If I set it and tie it just right, not too tight, not too loose..my busk flies open on a whim..and I am stuck in the back room re-kajiggering all of my outfit to fix it..If I tie it tighter and bend over?? *ping* there goes a few eyes on the busk..and it feels awful. Like half way through you support system, you've sprung a leak..again to the back room to resecure my underpinnings! Gah!

I could do without a corset, but since I have been wearing one, it really does make the line of the dress better. (Never thought it would..lesson learned!) and yes, I can sing all corsetted up.

What am I doing wrong??? I have a gig coming up in October and I'd like to not have to hie myself off to reset my durn busk!

Sounds awful! You wonder if women of the era were afflicted with misbehaving corsets only we're not aware of their dash to somewhere private, to re-kajigger ( that's a great word! )

Bet a lot of money @MaryDee is familiar with the problem and the fix.

Nope, I have a corded corset with hook-and-eye tape closure in front. I have a bum knee so can't squat down to lift or pick up stuff. I therefore have to be able to bend over past 90 degrees at my waist, which means I can't wear a busk or any boning in front.

As a very wild guess, you may have a defective busk which needs replacing.

Thanks, I'll look at it to make sure that things are in true...
