Got this as part of a mid-size reic collection. Not sure if part of cooking utensil or something else fashioned into a cooking utensil...referring to the l-shaped type piece of iron

What makes you think it's a cooking utensil?

Just a guess that it was fashioned ibto something with a handle and then a part that would slide somethijg over a fire. May not be but i have no clue what it might be otherwise

Could you provide measurements? My first thought was that it looked like a step from a wagon or something similar.

I'm thinking that it was originally something like a foot operated potato planter, maybe it was broken and later adapted and used as a boot puller.

I am thinking it's a carriage mount. Looks very "stirrup" iron to me.
