Does this Cook & Brother lock plate look legit?

The plate is fine, although it's been cleaned bright (they were case colored originally) and is a bit pricey (IMHO) considering it doesn't have any of the other parts…which would all be serial numbered to the plate. Normally there's also some alpha-numeric markings internally, however it's an extremely late serial number towards the very end of production
 
I saw it on the internet. Didn't realize it was a member here.
Its mine and it has NOT been cleaned as it has never been on a musket or carbine. It is NOS. If you look it there is no ring where the hammer would have been and the holes are not threaded. Below is my original C&B.

How were these serial numbered? Were the carbines mixed together with rifles or did they have their serials? Were these built in sequential order?
 
I think the armory building still exist in Athens. It's about 2.5 hours away from me. If I ever get one, may take it and get a pic with it by its old birth place''' :-)
