Cook Award for Year, 2014

The Food Forum started the Cook Awards in October, 2014. There have been many great recipes contributed by so many.

For October the award went to Northern Light. For November the award went to nitrofd and 18th Virginia. For December the award went to Barrycdog. They all posted great recipes and many recipes. It has really been hard to select a winner for this year.

The Food Forum is pleased to announce that the Cook Award for 2014 goes to Northern Light . Thanks so much for your posts and delicious recipes.

As part of your award, I will be sending a cookbook for you .

The Food Forum is pleased ( tickled pink, get it? ) to announce that the Cook Award for 2014 goes to Northern Light!

Our First trophy of this magnitude is a crock, no pun intended- the recipes are not. The crocks represent the bottomless well of knowledge brought here, ever changing as the contents of this lovely old piece must have been over the years, still cleaned and sanding ready for another batch. Of what? Whatever the cook's imagination and inspiration allows- from 150 years ago to today.

It's been filled with all who gave of themselves and their kitchens, their time and frequently their personal recipes. Means a LOT for everyone to help fill this crock again and again and again. Thanks so very much for ALL who helped. Tough, hard choice, maybe Northern Light has her crock filling over time and again- not to detract from the efforts of anyone else, she's staggering here with hers. We also provide paper towels as part of this award.

So thank you, Northern Light, wish this was on the way to you also, maybe some day! Who knows how far our recipe contests will take us, or the possibilities waiting? Congratulations for being here first!

Very, very nice, Northern Light, congrats! I'm happy it was not me having to make the decision, poor Donna! Tough one, but I think you tipped the scales in all the categories judged, many congrats! Would not wish to live in your home, no offence would weigh a bazillion pounds. You're obviously one of those cooks!

Diane, you cannot imagine how may of those things I have broken over the years! Although I write with my right hand, I do a lot of other things with my left, including using hand beaters. Apparently they are not made to be used backwards, so the gears get stripped. My Mum gave up eventually and bought me electric beaters! I have been through a few of those as well.

My oldest is left-handed. DO NOT use the egg beater, get that 'lektrick critter out...! I have a small collection of them, two of them have paddles instead of beaters. They're butter beaters! (The men got their cars and we got our kitchens...)

Thank you so much for this honour! I am so, so blown away by this! I NEVER win anything, so this is truly meaningful! I'll have to get myself busy with some new posts, and not rest on my bay leaves (laurels, get it?)!
