Some historians occasionally recite a somewhat trite statement when local history is mentioned in a discussion, dismissing quickly all thought that anything local or even regional is inconsequential, saying: "Well, as everyone knows, all history is local to someone." Those who make such comments should read this book to discover the value of "local history."
