IDing it would be a pipe dream. I'm still not at all convinced it is period. Instead of writing a dissertation on what could be, he should have an analysis done on the material used in it's construction.
Its absolutely positively real. Practically every dealer at the 2012 Richmond show wanted to buy it. The soldier who found it was in the 6th corps AOP. From Gburg to Appomattox. The guy helped bury the dead at 2nd Manassas. It could be almost any CS generals. Im trying to trace his GAR post that might be a clue.
