A question entered my mind, while reading of the advance of Lee's Army on Gettysburg.

Was there a "Bounty" put on African Americans that were kidnapped by Confederate forces at Gettysburg?

Not so far as is reported in the primary sources in my collection. I imagine that if there had been a bounty, many more would have been taken captive than has been recorded, which may not exceed 200 on the high end of the estimate. I am also unaware if or how any soldiers profited off of those captured during the invasion.

That is the take I have gottten in reading about this aspect of the campaign. In retrospect it seems too involved a "program" for an invading army to be involved with.
