I have the original muster roll of Company K, 26th Georgia Infantry for the months of
Sept/Oct, 1864. My ancestor is on it.
Entries for three of the men are as follows:

J.H. Miller..........Taken prisoner Sept 22 1864"
So, madisonman your supposition is correct. They were a summary of what had happened during the two-month period prior to the date finalized.
