I was able to attend the October 29, 2022 Roan Inc. Firearm and Civil War auction near Williamsport, PA containing items from the Daris M. Beck collection of Bedford, PA . I was able to acquire both Colt and Savage Arms Navy pistols. The auction was excellent, running from 9am until 2pm. From 9am until 1130am there were mostly 20th century arms and at 1130am they began the historic arms collection. I did not obtain any of the 20th century weapons.

It was a difficult decision to attend because there was the Gettysburg Military Show the same day, however, I was pleased. In addition to the two guns I was able to pick up some ephemera and other items; so, it was a good day.

Here are a few pictures of the guns I was able to purchase.

The Savage appears to be one of the civilian guns. It has none of the typical inspectors marks. That suits me because I purchased both pistols as representative of what my ancestors in the 7th Virginia Cavalry might have used. My great, great grandfather, Thomas J. Bishop and his brother Charles M. Bishop were in Company C of the 7th VA Cav. I have documentation of what weapons the 7th VA Cav. used by Company and Company C had both the Colt and Savage Navy pistols listed.
