Hello.I have an 1861 navy serialnumber 1929.It was sold to Washington Arsenal on the 21. of September 1861,according to factoryletter from Colt.Is there any way one can trace where it went from there?Recieving officer was major George D. Ramsay.

Probably not, but you could check with Springfield Research Service. It will cost you some money whether anything is found or not.

Welcome from Mississippi. We have several members on here that should be able to help you. They will be along soon.
Thanks from Norway. Will be waiting for possible results.Old archives can contain the strangest things,so who can say for sure?

Southron is probably correct. Springfield Research can provide some units that some were issued to, but it is far from complete.
I thank you for the tip.It looks much like the picture you posted. US marked to the right of Colts patent, and a small "R" below the 36 cal. on the triggerguard. Thanks for help, and of course the picture.
