Reading about the Appomattox Campaign in the OR...was Colonel Allen Lysander Burr related to Aaron Burr?? Findagrave does not list this Burr's ancestry, but considering that they were both from New York, and with the similar first names, I'm supposing that perhaps they were?

It does not seem to me that they are close relatives. The father of Colonel Allen Burr was Alanson Burr (see last sentence in Find A Grave link below). Alanson Burr was born in Vermont, the son of Samuel Burr an immigrant from Scotland.

Vice President Aaron Burr, Jr. was the great grandson of Jehu Burr who emigrated to Connecticut from Suffolk, England.

I was looking but couldn't find a connection, at least not in the Americas.
