It's said Cold Harbor was one of the few fields the veterans didn't want to visit after the war. Even now, it's a desolate place. It feels strangely remote, even though it's not that far from Richmond. It's quiet there, but not peaceful. Great pictures. Thanks.
P.S. I used to live in Sioux Falls, and our oldest daughter was born there.
 
Development is slowly over time creeping that way from the direction of Mechanicsville which is getting entirely over grown, but right now it's fairly rural where you were and even pastoral on certain days.
