Has anybody read this book..?
I did a search of the forum, & couldn't find the title (or author) anywhere. On google books, I was able to look at some of it, & am considering getting a copy. I found the following excerpts (starting on page 50) interesting:
Does anybody have additional information on this topic..? We've all heard plenty about Blacks that were "kidnapped" by Confederate forces in Pennsylvania through multiple threads on the subject but, don't hear much on the actions of the Union forces conducting "enlistment raids" of their own. Incidentally, I came across this book, after reading one of the threads on Pennsylvania incidents. In looking for further info, I ran across this book, & thought the subject would make an interesting topic.
In addition to this particular book which appears to cover more than the topic I've considered, I'd be interested in other sources, stories, & examples of Black folks (Free or Slave) that were "kidnapped" by Union forces, & imprisoned, or forced into service against their will, at the point of a bayonet, or threat of a rope.
For the discussion of this thread, I'm not interested in whataboutism, or further discussing the actions of Confederate forces in Pennsylvania, & elsewhere. There's multiple threads dedicated to the discussion of those topics. I'm specifically asking for evidence, & discussion of the topic I've brought forward.
Please keep discussion to the topic as outlined. Thanks in advance, & I look forward to exploring this new to me topic...
