A few days ago I was at an antique mall. One of the booths had about 30 old spurs for sale. I know there are people who collect this kind of thing, but these old spurs were, at lest to me, not all that attractive. All the spurs in the booth looked old so is there anyway to know if a spur is Civil War era? I do no know how much spurs changed from 1860 to 1890.

In my research of items supplied to Michigan regiments I see that two Detroit manufacturers were providing spurs. Would these manufactures have copied US Army spurs or made civilian style spurs for the Michigan cavalrymen?
