Civil War Ship Models

An off the wall question but I'm sure someone out there has done it and can help. I'm wanting to build a model of a CSN ship to put on a shelf in my man cave. I've done some modeling in the past but not recently. Kind of want to pick it back up to do in my spare time these days instead of sitting in front of the TV (even though there is always plenty to watch on either History or the Military Channel)

I'm wondering if anyone does any modeling out there and knows some good websites that have a wide variety of Civil War vessels to build. When I google I'm mostly finding either models already fully assembled and are for sale for absurd prices or only sites that have either the Virginia, Monitor, Kearsarge, Hunley, or Alabama and thats about it. I want to build another vessel like the Chicora, Tennessee, or David. One that normal folks arent familiar with if you know what I mean. Then I can kind of use it as a conversation piece.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I scratch build mini's from old historical images. just takes time and a little material.

William at cottage has wonderful models. http://www.cottage-industries.com/
I really enjoy his kits and the detail of them. Love to see your recent work if you have any pictures.

I attended Mass Maritime Academy many years ago, and while I was there Bath Iron Works (Maine) donated their collection of model ships to our school. There was a time when prior to actually building a ship, you made models and ran them through their paces in a tank. From there you took the ship apart and made templates of the pieces. You scaled them up and thus a ship was created
