Civil War Period Spectacle Frames

Howdy folks,

Well spring is certainly in the air - here and Virginia and the South. - and that can only mean that soon (if not already) reenactors and their impressions will be taking the fields.

I am returning to this passion after almost ten years hiatus and have been told that my wonderful lenses that change in the sunlight would be a no no. Alas, that calls for new lenses and a frame that would be considered to be authentic.

My query is this. Does anyone know of a Sutler/business that would cater to this need? Or do I just lose the darken lenses for clear ones?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just got a pair of those Focusers Battlefield McCallisters. They came fairly quickly and seem to be good quality for the price. I got them with readers that are close to the right strength, so I don't know about the quality of their prescription lenses or how much longer that would add for processing time.

Thanks yall for the advise and I guess I best get going with them … it would hardly do for me to without glasses that work and my hearing aids powered up.. otherwise it could be a blind and deaf cannoneer! I could play the role of powder monkey if someone would point me in the right direction…just saying .,.
