Civil War Bullets, what battlefield?

I got this jar of civil war bullets from my grandfather like 17 years ago and he got it from a relative. I don't know what battlefield they are from. I also don't know what the little tiny ones are. Included in the jar were what appears to be fragments of pottery and some mineral samples. Maybe that can aid in identifying what battlefield? If I need to get anything sent in for verification, where would I send them? There are some interesting pieces in here, hopefully you guys enjoy these pictures.

Welcome, enjoy. First I would eliminate all the modern copper-clad and most of the flat topped from the mix. Also the real small look to be 22's. That should get your hoard cut down considerable by removing all the post Civil War

I highly doubt you will be able to assign them to individual battlefields. Next you will need to measure the bullets that are not smashed up in order to search as to what they are. This only may narrow down a little if it is known certain firearms were not in use at particular battle.

A dirt backstop from a shooting range would provide an opportunity to recover a variety like this including black powder ammunition. However, in this case the black powder bullets look a bit weathered to be reproduction ammunition and those balls look too big for a musket; maybe from artillery rounds? I wonder if any of those minerals would register on a metal detector? My guess is that these are items found with a metal detector from different locations and tossed into the same finds jar, unless you have iron clad evidence that they came from one location that was a Civil War battlefield from the original owner.
