Civil War Battle Animations

I have made battle animations for fourteen Civil War battles on YouTube using the video game Empire: Total War - I used the accurate troops and placed them in their historical positions. This animation is a way to grab the attention of people, to teach them in a fun way about the battle and its most important moments, and to inspire a more general interest in history and the American Civil War in general!

Very cool! I'm working on something similar by putting troops where they stood on the battlefields themselves for tourists via augmented reality (see images attached from Bentonville, NC battlefield). I used a service to create the 3D models themselves and had to keep them to a low poly count as to not overwhelm the iPhone processor. Motion and more detailed models (like yours in ACW) are a hoped-for next step (along with more accurate troop facings and #s. Not sure if it'd be possible to combine the technologies....
