Chili Sauce

As this is the season for tomatoes, and they are plentiful, the following is the most delightful way of preparing them for winter use, but it must be followed minutely:

Eighteen large tomatoes, peeled and chopped fine
Eight peppers
two large onions chopped fine
four teacups of vinegar
two tablespoons of salt
one tablespoon of brown sugar
two teaspoonfuls of ginger
two teaspoonfuls of cloves
two teaspoonfuls of allspice
two teaspoonfuls of cinnamon
two teaspoonfuls of nutmeg

Mix well together and boil for several hours until as thick as sauce.
