Chickamauga

To all, Dave Powell has a Chickamauga blog. Just go to your favorite search engine a type "chickamauga blog". Really interesting stuff in the blog.

Agree about the folks working there. I had the pleasure of talking to Mr. Ogden about a project I'm currently putting together at work. We have a jewel of a park here in the Chattanooga area. In my experiences, Chickamauga is definitely ranked up there with Gettysburg and Antietam. Too bad most of the battlefields in and around the actual city of Chattanooga have been mostly destroyed and forgotten. There isn't a single building (to my knowledge) left in the city that was here during the war. What a travesty.

Isn't that true of many of Tennessee's ACW battlefields? Look at Franklin (getting better, though), Stones River (why the deuce is Wayne's Hill a golf course?), Spring Hill (are they doing anything at all there?). Shiloh remains, somehow, a real treasure.

I have found both Tennessee and Kentucky to do a marvelous job on their own battlefields.

Somehow though, the federal parks in Tennessee (except for Shiloh) have been left untouched in terms of information and organization.
