I made it to Vicksburg two weeks ago and the weather was wonderful. Ever since my first visit I wanted to photograph all of the busts in the park. I started a few visits ago and try to get them when the lighting is good. This one of Charles Ellet, the Ram Brigade commander, is the most recent. It is located on the overlook above the Cairo.

He was shot through the heart by a sniper and died never knowing he was promoted to Brigadier General. The fort his men held was renamed in his honor.
