Centennial Stamp Collection

I'm sure a lot of folks here had the foresight to pick up a set of these Commemorative Stamps, too. I think the cost was $29.95 online at the time, and I thought it was going to be just the stamps when I bought it, not knowing it came with a book that provided short biographies of each character whom was awarded a stamp. Still in cellophane! I sure hope that one day, these stamps will increase in value and rarity, considering so much of anything related to the Civil War is being purged by our cancel culture. They won't be considered rare during my time left on earth, but perhaps my grandkids can see the value they will one day hold, both financially and historically

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you wrote but those stamps weren't printed for the Civil War Centennial. They were printed and released as part of the Classic Collection Series beginning with Legends of the West in 1994 followed by the The Civil War in 1995, the Olympic Games in 1996, and running a different series every year with the final one being American Illustrators in 2001.

You're correct - I accidentally typed centennial instead of commemorative.

Oh I wish I had bought them. I have some older stamps that my Dad collected and some first covers. I collect so much just didn't keep up with stamps.

I do have coins which my Dad collected and which I collect. Glad I have them.

I got 'em! Fact is, I got most of the "classic collection"! Used to be in the post office every day, and, because of the lines, always looked at what they were selling. Never sold the, but I do have to think about where they might be stored!

Apart from the expected increase in monetary value, these stamps are really beautiful. Amst like small pieces of art and that they came with a book is even better.

As a former stamp collector myself, I must say these are some beautiful finds!
