That's a person. The most bothersome thing about this photo is the color of the head of the person just above the 6th NH sign.

They're bubbles (hiccup!). Haven't you ever seen the drunk scene in Disney's Dumbo?

Sometimes fraternizing with the enemy was more than just swapping tobacco for coffee.

There were many good games of "quarters" played between the lines as well.

Probably when I was little kid but I don't remember. I'll look for it online. I was thinking of the drunk scene form the silent movie Wings. Clara Bow tries to win back her beau (Charles Rogers) from Arlette Marchal. He chooses the one who makes the best bubbles.

Start at 4:18 of this clip. The biggest bubbles happen in the bedroom scene a couple minutes later.
