Two-headed Rebels, though rare, were not unknown. This man, Cpl Josh Benton, survived a gunshot wound to his superfluous head, which was then amputated. Benton lived to be 80 years old and died in Galveston in 1920, father of ten children and a horde of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
