will visit hopefully this September but a question. is the Museum solely dedicated to the Cairo or to the Union gun ships that participated in the Battle-Siege for Vicksburg as well ?

It's been a LONG time since I was there - and it wasn't a fun trip. My grandfather and I were to go and spend two days there but my step-grandmother insisted on coming and complained the entire trip. We only had a few hours and it was one of my more miserable vacations...

I do remember USS CAIRO but IIRC there wasn't much about the other ships, especially CSN ARKANSAS.

The museum is pretty much 100% devoted to the USS Cairo. About the only non-Cairo materials there are books in the gift shop.

The USS Cairo is right outside the museum. I saw it about a month or so ago. I am depressed every time I see it at further signs of deterioration....

My recollection from my visit in February is that it is strictly a USS Cairo museum. I also seem to recall there are some other naval artifacts in the Old Courthouse Museum in Vicksburg.
