C. Roby 1861 1860?

Hey everyone. This looks like this could possibly be an original Roby 1861 1860. It has limited markings (maybe worn off?). If it is, I am strongly considerering purchasing. What do you think? The handguard also appears to be bent. Not sure if it's just the angle the picture was taken at though. Sorry the pics are not of the best quality....

The guard is bent and it has to be a 1861 as there are no 1860 marked Roby's and the single line address was only on the 1861.

Thanks! With the bent guard what would you pay for this thing? I can get it for $500. If the guard wasn't bent it would be a NO BRAINER 100% and $500 would be a steal in my opinion.

I really don't like to give price advise not being able to hold it in my hands but with all the blade rust and the bend I would not pay near that for it.

I was told that when the guard is bent like that it means the horse rolled over on it. You can't smack a guy in the face with the guard like a set of brass knuckles and get that kind of damage, but a horse is a different matter. Usually horses don't roll over on a sword unless they are charging and step in a gopher hole or are hit with shrapnel or bullets. It probably doesn't help the trooper any either.

IMHO, it's a door stop.
Spend a bit more $$ and buy a really nice one, unless you are collecting relics.
