Burnside rifle

Hello everyone. New to this site, just amazing how much people are interested in the civil war. I recently aquire a burnside rife. It's in great shape. Can anyone direct me or share with me any information they can so I can find out more about this weapon.

You have a model 1864, commonly called the 5th model. Serial number 18343 is not listed in SRS books. Approx 53000 Burnside carbines were purchased by the government. A couple of other books: "The Burnside Breech Loading Carbines" by Edward A. Hull, This was the earlier version of the one shown above . Another is "Carbines of the Civil War" By John D. McAulay, this one is fairly inexpensive. Welcome, enjoy
