Library of Congress - Pvt. Edwin Francis Jemison of the 2nd Louisiana Regiment, killed at the Battle of Malvern Hill

"Waggaman was disappointed to learn that his men were to remain in the woods at the base of Malvern Hill as a reserve force during the attack, the same orders they had received in every previous battle of the Seven Days. The Tigers were grumbling about the orders when a courier galloped up to Waggaman and handed him a note. The colonel scanned it and then roared, "Fall in!" The 10th Louisiana would fight after all."
