Brazilian Confederados

Col. Norris, who was the original Rebel to immigrate to Brazil, was a distant relative of mine.
I recently visited with his great-grandson who live in Monroe County, AL. He told me his grandfather was born on a ship returning from the colony in Brazil. On his land is an old cemetery. where Col. Norris's relatives that did not immigrate to Brazil are buried. He said several years ago, a large group of Confederados contacted him for directions.
They came in a bus to his home. The old cemetery is large and next to his home. He showed them where the graves of the CSA soldiers were buried. They took a large CS Battle flag and all got down on their knees to pray before laying wreaths on the graves. They were all descendants of the original Southerners who left after the war and settled in several parts of Brazil. He said he couldn't understand anything they said as no interpreter was among them and very few knew any English. Col Norris was from up North and came South to Monroe Country, AL before the war. He served in the Alabama Senate. I am not sure if his rank was an honorary one or not.
