Boscobel, Wisconsin

I know a man who's been a Civil War buff for many years and has attended the Boscobel reenactment a number of times. He's not a reenactor although he wanted to, on the Confederate side, until he found out he had relatives who fought for the north. He acquired a Union uniform but never took it any further.

While attending a CW event in another state he was listening to a puzzled couple in front of him discussing the events. He stepped forward and explained what was going on and within minutes had about a dozen or spectators around him asking questions. He then decided to put his uniform to good use and use it for educational purposes. He wears it while mingling with the spectators claiming that if you're wearing a uniform, people automatically think you know what's going on and will ask questions. And he is happy to answer them.

I just got home from Boscobel, so I missed this message!!
Shoot, I would have loved to have talked with him and let him "fall in" with my Confederate artillery unit!....We shoot an original 3 Inch Ordnance.....We are based out of Moline, IL and Davenport, IA and we do a lot of events that may be within driving distance for him, so, if he's interested, give him my unit's website http://cptscott.angelfire.com/ or he or you can contact me on CivilWarTalk!! :)

I have passed on your message, Mr. Sailhorst. I hope you hear from him.

I went!!! It was great! I wish I had been a part of this group then. I heard they were doing a showing of live ordnance - I wanted to go but my health did not permit. Thank you for the experience - I did have a root beer on my own :)
