I'm sending some more restored photos to the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation. Here is Hartwell Benton Compson and his citation. (Something still looks wrong but I don't know what.)

Medal of Honor citation -
Rank and organization: Major, 8th New York Cavalry. Place and date: At Waynesboro, Va., March 2, 1865. Entered service at: Seneca Falls, N.Y. Birth: Seneca Falls, N.Y. Date of issue: March 26, 1865. Citation: Capture of flag belonging to Gen. Early's headquarters.

Where is the flag today?

That's a very nice restoration job, Mike, as usual. As for something "looking wrong," it may be that his eyes don't align horizontally with the very slight tilt of his head. But that's just his physiognomy, I think, that's easier to see in the restored image.

I think you are right. I duplicated the original photo then flipped it horizontally. Next I took his "good eye" and added it to a new layer over the "bad eye." Have to try for better placement. Thanks, Andy.
