Balloons Gettysburg Campaign

James and Ezra Allen made several ascents after Thaddeus Lowe resigned after the Battle of Chancellorsville in May, and they too resigned and the Balloon Corps disbanded in August 1863. I'll dig through my files and see if I can find an exact date of their last ascent.

Wondering if that is speculation or you know from some signed report that it was Ezra Allen?
Any idea what Confederate battery was firing on the balloon at Banks's Ford on June 12? There was one Union soldier who thought it was Parrott shells that were being used.
The Banks's Ford balloon also went up later that day (June 12) towards evening.
