Wow, Captain! Thank you. It appears to be a Type 1! I'm not real certain about the repairs made, some parts look "new". But, the price is right. If the front/nose band was original it would make it a deal now. I will continue researching this one for sure!!!!
Added note: Lodgewood did respond just now and answered my question. It does have all the Type 1 features except that darn rear sight. I thank them very much for responding.
I guess most collectors stick with a Type 1 having a blade rear sight and Type 2 an adjustible one. A Type 3 had a different lock mechanism. My fogginess is in some reading I found that back then, a Type 1 had the first lock mechanism and Type 2 had the later one (Enfield) with only mention of sights being the blades went to troops and adjustible to NCO's.
