Here is one of the stops we made today:

There is a marker plate in front of the step at the base of this monument. Interestingly enough it tells of the Graniteworks having been operated by a man named Stuart out of Philadelphia. Can't help but wonder if there is a connection...

It was a beautiful day and we are already anxious to return.

....also stopped at Confederate Avenue, Little Round Top, Wheatfield, Oak Ridge and Seminary Ridge. Was light on taking photos today. Beautiful day, but crowded (except for the "reenactment"). Had lunch at Tommy's on Steinwehr, strolled the avenue. We had a great day...but then each visit to Gettysburg is rewarding in some way.

You and I probably were in the vicinity of each other all day today, Mark! My husband and son left for home after lunch, but I stayed until about 5. Spent much of my time in Rose Woods and that area, except for a foray to Culp's Hill, where I happened to see cash on a tour.

Beautiful weather today--but, boy, was it CROWDED! The rescheduled reenactment was this weekend, so that probably didn't help.

Yes without a doubt our paths crossed more than once today! And a beautiful day it was. I really expected more crowding for a re-enactment weekend, though.

We went over to Sach's bridge Thursday night, and could see the tents set up across the fields for it. And they were directing traffic at Millertown Road yesterday and today. But otherwise, I didn't even see many reenactors walking around town.

I did, however, see a couple of does in Rose Woods, and a couple more on the Trostle horse path. Scared me as much as it did them! Believe it or not, even though I was out walking all over like I usually do--no ticks in three days!

I haven't been there yet. Is the top picture Cemetery Ridge?

I was there on August 7th. Took the same photo of the High Water Mark.

I attended the reenactment. I think there were fewer reenactors this year because the event had to be rescheduled due to the heavy rains in early July. Nevertheless, the event was still memorable.

The top picture shows the copse of trees that was the high water mark of Longstreet's Assault. It is almost directly in line across the fields from the Virginia Memorial that's located on Confederate Avenue.
I was responding to your second post.

You are missing a marvelous experience! Do you have plans to visit Gettysburg?
Not this year, but I'm hoping to in the next coupla years. Got trips planned to Mansfield/Pleasant Hill and Vicksburg this year and one to Richmond/Petersburg in January. Just started my ACW trips last year. So far I've only been to see The USS Monitor at The Mariners' Museum in Newport News,Lynchburg,Appomattox Court House and the Museum Of The Confederacy down the road and Sabine Pass Battleground Park. Starting next year,it's time to go big: Gettysburg,Antietam,Shiloh and Chickamauga are high on the list.

What an impressive schedule for next year! A good season must surely be in store for you! Keep us posted regarding your itinerary. Many CWT members visit Gettysburg frequently. You may just meet some of us there! You never know...
