I was not sure what forum was best to post this in , but here it goes.
I found two August 1862 Ordnance Receipts issued to the 42nd AL Infantry through the Columbus Depot that include a lengthy list of issued tools, a lot of them being various files, hammers, saws, pliers, vices, all sorts of interesting tools including several items that appear to me to be for gunsmithing work. Would this be common for all of these to be issued to an Infantry Regiment? This looks like items that should be issues to a workshop at a Fort or repair depot/Arsenal. What is this about?
