This is an old family heirloom found in a roadside ditch by my Great Grandfather. I know precisley Jack about swords, sabres, cutlass what ever classification it falls under. Im 99% its Yankee, currently missing the handle, my old man says its "down in the basement somewhere" Easy fix when found? Any info on this piece is greatly appreciated. Pics are primarily of the sheath.. I thought I had a better image of the stamp but I do not... =(

Dang, that's a real heart breaker that the grip and guard are missing. It's a heck of a find, though! It wouldn't matter to me what era it's from.

I'm confident he has the handle... its taking the time to tear the basement apart to find it... but it will happen...
