These pictures are of the large ring gauge (5.70 i.d.) used to inspect 24 Pdr. shells and case shot. In the field they were stored in Battery Wagon D or issued to the Chiefs of Cassion. This particular ring gauge will be in use as part of the 1st Illinois Battery D program at Vicksburg N.M.P. on April 12th.
