Quite a difference in stations then and now, a shame the old station wasn't preserved.

According to the November 1865 Annual Report of the Superintendent of the South Side Railroad, the Appomattox station had been burned by Union raiders in 1864 and had not been rebuilt at the time of the report. This may well be the Appomattox station, but the date is suspect.
