This has indeed been a tough week.

First receiving the news that Chris Calkins, who was the go to on pretty much anything related to Appomattox and the month of April 1865 in Virginia, has passed away.
His titles on that period including the recently re-released 'No One Wants To Be The Last to Die' and 'The Final Bivouac' are absolute outstanding books on Appomattox.

Now I have heard that Lance Herdegen has also passed away. He was and will be the absolute final word on anything Iron Brigade related.

A sad week for Civil War historians and scholarship.

Rest Easy Gentleman 😔🫡

And seems a though nobody cares anymore. Noses in cell phones or faces in screens indoors and no running around living real life. It is sad. Remember, the hearts of many will grow cold and self centeredness will prevail. Paraphrased from the words of Jesus to His disciples when asked about signs of the end times. I think they mark is cyborg related. Hooking people to computers and have full control over those people who lose their souls when they choose to be part machine and live forever. "They shall seek death but death will not be found". I think that is revelation. Few recruits for reenacting anymore if anyone is doing it at all in some places. And now we are dying off. Very sad. May the next world be better. Even so Jesus, come.
