Haha, it was driving me nuts that I couldn't get it right away. I've been there probably 4 times in the last 2 years and was searching through my photos to find a similar view.

It is a great photo though with the wildflowers growing at the wheel of one of the cannons.

There was a sign posted explaining that a large piece had broken off. I believe it also said that after that event the NPS took
a very close overall assessment and discovered it was in pretty bad shape. I might have also read this here on CWT or elsewhere online.

I was looking closer at my pictures and discovered this picture I took near the Visitors Center is almost the same POV of the famous Alexander Gardner picture after the battle.

Has anybody here read the new book on the battle about general McClellan I was watching the Gettysburg sacred trust the other night and the Ranger I should say that had Ranger was speaking on it and he gave the general kudos for well fort campaign.

Do you recall the author or the title of the book?[/QUO look it I will try to get you that information, but he brought something else up that I really never took into consideration when he said remember most of the stuff we are reading is by Republicans and they did their best to distort the truth about Democratic offices and soldiers I never really thought about politics behind it I guess now when I read something I will have to think of not just North and South but Democrat or Republican it gave me something new to think about.
