One complaint I have noticed about such recent Civil War films as Field of Lost Shoes is the depiction of anti-slavery Confederates. Does anybody know if there is any major evidence (letters, diaries, etc.) of Confederate soldiers, civilians, and politicians expressing anti-slavery views during the war? If so, were these views to the same extent as abolitionists or anybody else who fought for the Union?
