If you'd like something a little less pricey, they do specialize in Civil War books. Doesn't appear to be a discount house. (I've got a question in to them if they offer only new or also used books).

I found these folks by accident by ordering a 'used' (which turned out to be apparently new) book thru Amazon. With the book, they sent an intriguing 68 page catalog.

I can't vouch for this seller, but it might be something to look into for an otherwise hard to find book. (?)

Morningside Books

I can vouch for Morningside Books. Bob Younger, now deceased, started it up after he retired and he and his wife Mary ran it for years. Bob just passed away this year and hopefully Mary has the energy of gumption to keep it going. Morningside Books has released numerous books that are significant and anytime I've seen one of their old reprints, I grab for it.

They also print books by noteworthy individuals including Ed Bearss (The Vicksburg Campaign and Forest at Brice's Crossroads).

I spent hundreds (if not over a thousand) of dollars with them. Good bookstore and good people. RIP Bob Younger.

Agree about the quality of Morningside.
I've been buying thru them since about 1994, and subscribe to
Gettysburg Mag. thru them. Its only published twice a year. Every issue's outside cover, front and back is either a painting or a recent photo taken at Gettysburg. Even the inside of the back cover is usually a photo of someone from the battle.
No ads to be found, and with up to 150 pages of text and maps, a real value.
Luckly, I've managed to get every issue to date.
Not heard so far what will be the future of Morningside, as he had been trying to sell the business in recent years.
Hope they manage to stick around, as there are still a few books I want from them.

Morningside is great. I subscribe to Gettysburg Magazine and have bought plenty of books from the folks over there. A lot of great books would likely go unpublished if not for Morningside. Hopefully someone will continue the business in the same manner Mr. Younger did.

Folks,

A bit of unabashed commercialism for some friends of mine. Another good book source is www.thomaspublications.com, with a good CW selection and some very nice G'Burg references. For collectors, the reference works on weapons and projectiles are must haves for the library, plus Dean and Jim are really good people and fun to deal with.
