That is an interesting piece but I'm not sure that is even a military buckle and belt. Could it be from a fraternal organization or maybe even a theatrical piece? Do you have any other information that could possibly lead us in the right direction? It will be interesting to see what others think.

I'm not sure what war this is from. But you all are by far the most knowledgeable. Have 2 buckles. Identified first as my fathers and found a photo when he was wearing the buckle. This buckle I just don't know.

Oh thank you so much for that. I'm just not sure but it was important enough for my grandparents to keep. There wasn't wealth but what I have is priceless to me.
There are 2 buckles. I have identified the first & placed with my dad's uniform from USAAF, WWII, having found a photo of him in his khaki uniform wearing the buckle with the tattered belt I have. The second is a buckle only. I don't have any actors (though some could have been. Lol) in the family. It very well be a civilian buckle but I just have a feeling it's military. Thank y'all for putting up with me & my goose chase. I'll let you know if I find anything new. I guess the lesson learned is if you have live relatives who show any interest in family lore, tell them everything you know for certain or attach a note. I waited til there was no one to ask. The biggest mistake in a history researchers journey. My grandmother would have known all the stories.

It's a very cool buckle to be sure, especially since it came from a relative. Hopefully somebody can clear this up for you. I can't help but think something is missing from the face of the plate. It appears there is a "shadow" and holes where rivets may have once held a second piece to this.

Do you all think I should head toward a WWI or WWII group on WordPress? I have relatives from the American Revolution to today. Feel like it's one of these two eras though. Thanks so much for your advice & opinions.
