Found in a park east of Kansas City, some civil war battles near by but not sure. Lexington is not far away. It does have rifling on it..
Any help would be great! unnamed.jpg

No, most likely a .32WCF, (.32-20) or similar cartridge gun bullet from the late 1800's.

Yeah, exactly what I'd have guessed (i.e. relatively modern .32). Just to be a pedant PITA I have to point out that one can still buy .32-20 ammo and I have a S&W revolver in that caliber made in the 1920s (and I also have to reference Robert Johnson's 1936 .32-20 blues as that was my reason for buying said revolver in 1968)). So the bullet shown could be much later than the 1880s.

As to the .32-20, it was one of several popular cartridges that fit both rifles and revolvers which was a selling point as one could have a rifle and a side arm that used the same ammunition.

Very true, John. I never owned a .32WCF myself, but have a mold for making the bullets, size them down slightly for .30 rifle plinking loads. The .32WCF is actually a .31 and the cast lead bullets work very well for .30/06 low velocity low noise plinking or pest control bullets at moderate ranges.
