Keep-up the good work you're doing, I'm canadian also but doubt very much any of my ancestors were in this Civil War even though my grandmother was born in Fitchburg, Maine. A lot of french canadians moved to the US to go work and her family was one of them. She moved back in Canada, more precisely married my grandfather (Milette), but I'm proud to say she was American and of course, spoke english. I'm french canadian and I'm proud to speak english also, my daughter's fluently bilingual (french and english).

I doubted that as-well.... but I was interested and decided to give it a shot. There not really "Ancestors" (Ancestors term is direct descendent or brother/sister), I prefer to call them my kin. I really doubted it at first because I barely had any American blood in my family, only my dad's grandfather was born in Michigan because they were visiting friends and my mom's grandmother who was born in Pennsylvania. I just ventured off into other people's lines and eventually found distant American relatives.

You should really try Ancestry.ca, it's free to build your tree, and view some records. You can't just view photos and such. Once I had my tree built pretty far, I got the monthly membership and have been using it since.

Keep active on these forums, there's barely any Canadians on here and it's nice to see some Canadians. I only know of Linda, dawna, and me.
