The History Channel has put together several episodes of 'Blood and Glory: The Civil War in Color ', its going to be aired on Sky TV in the UK sometime later this week. The complete programme is out on DVD in the US for $26.98 but unfortunately I don't think that they have released the DVD over here in the UK. I'm sure that most of the forum members here are already well aware of the show but its new to us Brits. The History Channel states, 'For 150 years, we have known them only as shadows — staring at us from a ghostly world of Black and White. But now, the American Civil War can at last be seen as those who lived — and died — had experienced it: in vivid color. Their images — and their lives — tell the gripping story of a time drenched in both blood and glory — a time that would define America forever.'

I cant wait.....

It nearly scared me. I remember I commented that everytime I look at it, Lee seems to come to life more. Next time he sure would start to talk ...

I'm proud to be a participant in this production. Look for me reading a letter written by my g-g grandfather Adj. William B. Phillips describing the assault of his regiment on the Rebel defensive lines at Petersburg on June 17, 1864. This segment comes in the first five minutes of hour three of the production. I remember the image you are talking about, but the image did not belong to @Zuzah or myself. Personally I thought it was kind of creepy. I was impressed with it from a technical standpoint, but still creepy.

Glad to hear that it has made it to the UK. The show was great fun to work on and it is nice to see it have a wider audience. There are a total of four one hour episodes that was broadcast in the U.S., hope you get the chance to see all of them. I do not have the commercial DVD, but they did send me a copy on a private label DVD that was cut from what aired.

BTW, if you would REALLY like to see more, I will be speaking tonight (and on the 11th) in California about colorized images and my experience on the show. More about it in this thread.

I've never read that Bragg denied his own quartermaster request before. That is priceless. He has argued with every office in the army even himself.

For one thing, they use ambient lighting (in this case an ordinary table lamp) rather than the harsh klieg lights they employed in the old days. See you at the meeting!

Interesting that they just used a table lamp. I never got to meet any of the production crew, all of my contact was email and phone.
