NOTES
Title from Civil War caption books.
Caption from negative sleeve: Ammunition schooners in Hampton Road's Dec. 1864.

Interesting photo. Is there a list of schooners that carried ammunition?Would these be Union or Confederate ships? I see no flags.

I did find where someone has this photo or one like it for sale of e-bay. The person states it photographed by Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner. He has no other information except the date.

These would be Union ships, Donna. Like you I have seen the Civil War pictures on ebay. I wonder how many of them are just copies. You can order copies from the LOC of all the pictures I post for a small fee. At least you could in the past. May take them a while before they are back up and running.
