You know theoretically if "could" have seen : Frontier, Mexican-American, Seminole 3rd, Civil War and back on Frontier. A War Horse for sure.

No, only seen that on sabers dated 1850, 1851, 1852.

1845 was the first Ames shipment of 600 per John Thillmann's " Civil War Cavalry & Artillery Sabers". None prior to 1845. Gov't contract was issued in 1844 for 2000 sabers.

The cartouches and Ames markings are all accurate and correct: JH Joseph Hannis, NWP Nathum W. Patch, & W.A.T. William A. Thornton
