Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

I haven't read the book, but isn't it kinda non-linear and epistolary in structure? Those are always an intriguing read. The movie is really a lot of fun. I liked the history/horror mashup. I only wish they'd picked some other battle than Gettysburg for the big climatic thing. In a war of 10,000 battles and skirmishes, you'd think someone could fictionalize something other than those 3 days. There's a fun collection of sci-fi stories called "Civil War Fantastic" that's a great read but every other story is set in Gettysburg.
I would imagine that Gettysburg was chosen because the majority of people would be familiar with it, whereas other less know battles might need a bit of explaining that would take away from the flow of blood!:frantic:

Lol. That's a good example. The battle of Antieum is the only battled portrayed in the book. Gettysburg is only mentioned when Lincoln gives his Gettsburg address. The movie is fun but does not follow the book at all IMO.

The movie is more of an action movie. I popped in the DVD and watched it again this morning. It's a fun action movie kind of like the old Kung-fu movies--fun to watch with seemingly impossible stunts.

It sets up the drama. The first day the vampires come in and wipe out a bunch of Union soldiers, leading to the confederates having the edge. There is a rush to get silver from the residents of Washington, then to melt it down and form it into weapons, then to get the silver weapons to Gettysburg in time to win the battle. With Gettysburg being a 3-day battle, your mind says, "Well, okay, not really possible, but I'll overlook that."

Sounds like being not my cup of tea. Probably a movie for guys ... which is not bad at all, don't get me wrong!
No, I think I'll wait and read the book.
